Study Taiko in-depth with Wadaiko Tokara for one month during their 20th Anniversary 2024 tour in Nagano, Japan!!
Kenshu Taiko Course participants experience the unique life of in-depth taiko training in Japan, with optional opportunities to join short performances.
**Please note, this is not an internship for joining Tokara as a stage performer**

Benefits of the Kenshu Taiko Course include:

• A chance to travel with Tokara during parts of our Japan Tour.
• Opportunity to participate in all classes taught by Tokara.
• Automatic placement in Weeklong Taiko Courses when applicable.
• Optional placement in other workshops.
• Travel to some of the best taiko festivals in the world.

Activities include:

• Attending daily and weekly rehearsals and workshops.
• Participating in Taiko Drumming Courses curated by Tokara.
• Participating in Wadaiko Festivals curated by Tokara.
• Assisting during tour concerts in Japan.
• Optional Japanese language classes throughout each week.
• Other activities as time and experience allow.

Eligibility:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old (there is no upper age limit)
• Previous taiko experience is necessary
• Applicants must hold a current drivers license (international drivers license will be required and must be acquired before arriving to Japan)
• Applicants must submit an Application form.
• One month commitment required.
  
• Accommodation is not included. However, we are able to help with finding suitable accommodation once registration is complete.

If you would like to have your own group Kenshu Taiko Residency or intensive workshop, we are happy to find a time that works for you.

• Summer: 2 July - 30 July
