Study Taiko in-depth with Wadaiko Tokara for up to one month during in Japan!! Kenshu Taiko Residency participants experience the unique life of in-depth taiko training in Japan, with optional opportunities to join short performances. **Please note, this is not an internship for joining Tokara as a stage performer** Benefits of the Kenshu Taiko Residency include: Detailed individual taiko instruction by international touring performers. Experience taiko training in the heart of Japan. Automatic placement in Weeklong Taiko Courses (when available). Free ticket to view Concert by TOKARA (when available). Equal distance to many sights between Tokyo and Osaka. Easy travel to some of the best taiko and national festivals in the world. (*) Activities include: Attending daily taiko training at Tokara Studio. Joining in local taiko class. (*) Participating in Taiko Drumming Courses curated by Tokara. (*) Participating in Wadaiko Festivals curated by Tokara. (*) Assisting during tour concerts in Japan. Optional Japanese language classes throughout each week. Other activities as time and experience allow. Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 18 years old (there is no upper age limit) (~ participants between 12-17 possible if participating with legal guardian ~) Previous taiko experience is necessary It is strongly recommended to have an international drivers license and/or have strong independent ability to travel on buses and trains in a foreign country. Applicants must submit an Application form. One month commitment required. Accommodation is not included. However, we are able to help with finding suitable accommodation once registration is complete. If you would like to have your own group Kenshu Taiko Residency or intensive workshop, we are happy to find a time that works for you. Kenshu Residency Dates for 2025~2026 Fall 2025: October 7 - November 3 Winter 2026: January 13 - February 10 Cost: The course fee, which includes full course tuition is 185,000 in Japanese Yen. **A deposit is required within three days of application** Payment can be via Wise, Paypal or International Bank Transfer. The payment details will be sent directly to the email address you use to register. (paypal payments can be paid with credit card as well as through paypal account) **If you wish to pay via Wise or International Bank Transfer, this is the most secure and prefered method. Please let us know if you wish to pay by Wise or International Bank Transfer. Afterwards we will send detailed bank transfer information. You will be notified by email immediately after deposit, and afterwards, course fee has been received. For any reason, if a reservation cancellation by the participant is necessary, full course fee minus deposit can be refunded until September 1st for Fall Course, or December 1st for Winter Course. After these dates, course fee cannot be refunded.
